The sudden arrest of the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, on Thursday evening by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), few hours after his tenure ended and relinquished power as the incumbent governor of the state, is indeed a confirmation that power, obviously has expiry date.
Prior to the arrest, Obiano, was covered with immunity for eight years till the moment he bowed out as a governor. However, the same man covered with the immunity was stripped off such prerogative immediately, and he was eventually arrested and summarily detained by the anti-graft agency.
The “power drunk” personality of any position of authority who thinks such post is permanently permanent, I hope they will have a rethink, change of mind and learn, before they are totally consumed of such nefarious, divisive and crude attitudes.
Political office holders should be aware that they are just holding that office for specific period of time, and it is tentative. It is only right if they can understand that some people have occupied the same position before them, whilst some will be there after their tenure expired .
The reigning despot will definitely vacate such position one day and all those you call your loyalists and sycophants will desert you, while you join the ranks of ordinary persons in the society.
Obiano’s case is seemingly a case study for all political office holders that – Power is transient, temporary and Consistently Inconsistent. This is not peculiar to Wike alone. Sincerely, the message is also a lesson for some heads and power drunk bosses of some organisations too. This of course goes beyond political offices.
It is not too late to learn that, everlasting power belongs to almighty God. They learnt, saw & even understood but will never change because of the hell fire they have been destined for due to their wicked act. That is the end of the immunity road for obiano. A word is enough for the wise. But I do not think power drunk individuals always choose to learn, they usually prefer the hard way, not knowing there is another life after the expiration of such office. I hope those still in office can learn from Obiano’s ordeals and that of those before him.
A word is enough for a wise.
