The convoy of the ex- Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha had been attacked on Friday, June 16 by yet-to-be-identified gunmen. A police officer had been the only recorded casualty in the attack.
It was said that the convoy had been attacked at Ihube community on the Okigwe- Enugu expressway, a road that has notably been under siege by terrorists for a while now.
Meanwhile, Okorocha has confirmed the incident, stating on Sunday, June 18, that the deceased cop had been a part of the group of police officials deployed from the state Government House to escort him to the burial ceremony of Emeka Ihedioha’s mum (another ex-governor of Imo state).
Okorocha had made the revelation at Amaimo in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of the state, further remarking that he was returning from Enugu when his convoy was attacked.
The vehicles in the convoy included a Sports Utility Vehicle, SUV, a bus, and Hilux which was shattered by bullets.
