Nollywood superstar Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has added directing to her impressive list of achievements with the release of her first film, Mother’s Love.
After starring in over 300 movies, Omotola—also known as Omosexy—has stepped behind the camera to co-produce and direct a heartfelt story about maternal sacrifice, redemption, and resilience.
“I’ve always believed African stories should be told by Africans,” Omotola said. “After years of acting, I wanted to take the opportunity to tell stories from my perspective as a director.”
The 47-year-old actress and mother of four described Mother’s Love as a passion project. “This film is very personal to me, and I’m excited to share it as the start of a new chapter in my career.”
The film was shot in Nigeria and stars talented actors including Ifeanyi Kalu, Noray Nehita, Olumide Oworu, Lilian Afegbai, and Baba Rex. It features a mix of English and Pidgin dialogue to capture the true essence of its setting.
Mother’s Love is set to premiere at several international film festivals later this year, with its official release date expected soon.
