The issue of building collapses in Lagos has been in the news for quite some time, probably because 75 percent of Lagos is covered in water. In the early hours of the morning at around 1:07 a.m., a two-story building collapsed in the Onipanu district of Lagos. And one person is said to be injured and is currently receiving medical treatment. Said building is on Arin Street, off Shyllon Illupeju.
A resident of the area attested to the report that a building had collapsed and that the building is around the railway line in the area.
“Yes, a building collapsed at the Oju Irin (rail line) area during the early hours of today,” he said.
This incident has been confirmed by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. The building is said to be an abandoned two-story building. The investigation revealed that the building did indeed collapse around 00:45, as the building is old and already weak
“Fortunately, no loss of life. However, one adult male sustained a minor injury and has been taken to hospital.
“The affected building has been cordoned off to prevent any threat,” the agency said in a statement on Wednesday.
Whatever can be done to stop this occurrence should be done, as we want a safe environment to live in.
