George Moghalu, the Managing Director of, the National Inland Waterways Authority, (NIWA) has announced that the Federal Government has made declarations that the contracted Onitsha River Port in Anambra will soon allow the berthing of big cargoes in its space.
Also in the works were ports in Baro as well as Oguta and Lokoja. The announcements were made by the NIWA Director shortly after an undisclosed meeting with the President, Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
While all three aforementioned ports are still in the construction stages, Mr. Moghalu did reveal that the Onitsha Port was being overseen and handled by Universal Elysium, a company said has partnered with the Port of Antwerp for the next 30 years.
