Raphael Onyedika, a midfielder for Midtjylland, may not be moving to AC Milan anytime soon since club executive Svend Graversen wants to keep the 21-year-old around for at least another year. According to reports, the Danish club Midtjylland rejected an initial €4 million bid for Onyedika because they believe he is worth at least €10 million. Because the Danish club has not yet appointed a new coach who has sanctioned his transfer, negotiations have not gone as smoothly as anticipated. According to director Graversen of Midtjylland, the Nigerian international is not for sale.
Before determining whether to accede to Milan’s demands or not, Midtjylland wants to know the plans of their new manager with Onyedika after Bo Henriksen was fired last month. The midfielder, who transferred from Nigerian team FC Ebedei to the Danish club in 2019, has been the subject of a request from the Rossoneri management for Midtjylland to reduce their asking price. Onyedika has been a vital member of the team since entering Midtjylland in 2021 and has already made eight appearances in all competitions in the 2022–23 season. At Midtjylland, Onyedika still has four years left on his contract.
With his physique and pace, Onyedika made an impression in his first full season in Midtjylland’s U-19 League and UEFA Youth League. In July 2020, he committed to his first five-year professional contract.
Onyedika played 28 games and scored three goals while on loan at Danish First Division team FC Fredericia for the whole 2020–21 season beginning on August 19, 2020. In the summer of 2021, Onyedika returned to Midtjylland and was elevated to the first team. He made his official Midtjylland debut against Odense Boldklub in the opening match of the Danish Superliga for 2021–2022.
