The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has pledged to demolish and bring charges against the proprietors of any hotel or event space where cultists or unlawful activities are held. The governor emphasized that everything will be done to prevent the state from reverting to its dark times considering the significant investment made to maintain peace and security in the state.
In the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Wike spoke at the flag-off of the 12th flyover on the Mgbuoba, Ozuoba-Ada George Road. Prof. Jerry Gana, a former minister of information, flagged off the 927.5-meter-long flyover on Friday.
He said whether anyone is in the PDP, APC, SDP, Accord Party, or any other party, if he gets hold of the person trying to breach the security in this state, he/she would be held accountable for it.
He won’t allow anyone to undermine his government. As they have experienced insecurity, but God has worked with them and the security services to keep the peace.
Speaking about the state government’s investment, Wike emphasized that despite having 10 months left in his term, he has continued to award contracts and commission projects.
Additionally, he urged Nigerians to hold elected and appointed authorities responsible and to refuse to accept justifications. He said that the state had no trouble funding the initiatives.
