The iconic U.S. television personality Oprah Winfrey is at the helm of a new controversy where she has clearly denied several reports that she was paid as much as $1 million to support the candidacy of Kamala Harris in the recent U.S. presidential election. The furore started when Washington Examiner reported that Oprah’s company, Harpo Productions, was paid a fat amount to host a celebrity town hall for the Democratic candidate back in September.
In a candid response, Oprah set the record straight, and according to TMZ uttered firmly, “Not true. I was paid nothing, ever.” Known for her integrity and influence, the talk show legend didn’t hold back to let the world know she backed Harris purely out of conviction, not for cash.
With all of the political fervor and post-election discussion that finally determined Donald Trump as President-elect, Oprah kept her comments focused and opted not to discuss the results of the election.
