The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has remarked that its orientation camps are not five-star hotels but still among well organised locations for grooming Nigerian graduates.
The NYSC had made this known on Saturday, 17 December via a release by the Director of Press Relations, Eddy Megwa. According to Megwa, since inception, the scheme had mobilised over 10,000,000 graduates, highlighting that every service year was segmented into: Orientation Course, Primary Assignment and Community.
Megwa also said that the Corps Members’ welfare still remained a cardinal policy thrust of the NYSC, while citing examples of instances when ailing corps members were flown abroad for medical issues defying local treatments at the expense of the corps.
“It therefore leaves a bitter taste in the mouth when certain individuals with ulterior motive cast aspersions on the NYSC, without any background or requisite information on the subject of the discourse.” Megwa had continued in the statement.
