Five-time Africa’s Women player of the year, Asisat Oshoala finished 16th in the final shortlist of the Women’s Balon D’or.

Benzema France and Real Madrid player Karim Benzema emerged as the men’s Balon D’or winner, which makes him the first French player to win this since Zindine Zidane in 1998.
Despite not winning the Balon D’or, Oshoala has achieved a great feat as she is the first African female to make it to the Balon D’or nomination, after an incredible performance for Barcelona last season.
