After Napoli’s triumph over Milan on Sunday evening, Nigeria international Victor Osimhen,m hailed his teammates on Twitter for the hard-fought 1-0 victory.
Along with Fabian Ruiz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Lorenzo Insigne, and Mario Rui, Osimhen was one of the players unavailable for the injury-ravaged Partenopei squad.
He had suffered a cheekbone injury during Napoli’s last trip to Milan, when the Partenopei lost 3-2 to Inter in November.
The 22-year-old took to social media to thank his teammates for their win over Milan, which moved them into second position, four points behind Inter.
‘Just one is enough. congratulations guys’, he tweeted after the game in which Eljif Elmas’ 5th minute goal separated both sides.
Franck Kessie’s 90th minute effort seemed to have pulled Milan level but a VAR check ruled out the goal to the dismay of the home side.
Osimhen had surgery in November and was ruled out for three months, but owing to a protective mask, he could return to the pitch sooner.
His absence coincided with a run of dodgy form for Napoli which saw them win just three times in nine games with four losses.
Sunday’s win brings Napoli back to second spot level on 39 points with Milan, four points behind leaders Inter who won 5-0 at Salernitana, their sixth successive league win.
