Amidst the fresh fuel scarcity in Nigeria, the Osun State Government spearheaded by Governor Ademola Adeleke has promised to close down filling stations hoarding petrol.
In a statement, the governor had released on Tuesday, May 30 by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, any fueling station found guilty of hoarding fuel to create artificial scarcity would be sealed off and its operators, charged to court for crime of economic sabotage.
The current fuel scarcity in the country began after Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s new president announced the end of fuel subsidy.
Meanwhile, in its warning to fuel marketers, the Osun State Government remarked that the deliberate hoarding of PMS by the fuel dealers within the state as a result of the President’s statement has brought on unnecessary hardship on the people of the state.
The statement had read partly:
“As from today, 30th May 2023, the Committee shall begin special monitoring of all the filling stations across the state in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders.”
