“In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed N711.5M, making it the 4th Highest Nollywood Film of all time in West Africa. Thank you to everyone for the love and support so far. This win is for all of us.”
Oversabi Aunty centres on a well-intentioned but overly intrusive aunty whose constant involvement in other people’s lives spirals into comic chaos, emotional moments, and unexpected life lessons. The storyline blends humour with relatable family dynamics, resonating strongly with audiences.
The film’s early momentum was boosted by an advanced screening held on December 18, which generated strong word-of-mouth ahead of its nationwide cinema release on December 19.
Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and other notable names, the movie has drawn praise for both its performances and storytelling.
Reacting to the success, Toyin Abraham took to social media to express heartfelt appreciation to fans and supporters, acknowledging the emotional significance of the achievement.
She wrote: “I may not have the perfect words, but my heart is full. Thank You, Lord and thank you to every single person watching and supporting Oversabi Aunty. I am deeply grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
The record-breaking run further cements Abraham’s growing influence as both an actress and filmmaker within the Nollywood industry.
