The Oyo State Government has started paying gratuities to retirees electronically, enabling a smooth and safe movement of payments. Furthermore, a statement released on August 31, 2024, by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, revealed that during a three-day symbolic data gathering and e-payment exercise for retirees, Olusegun Olayiwola, the State Commissioner for Establishments and Training, declared this project.
According to Olayiwola, periodic interruptions that might hinder prompt payment will not occur due to the e-payment system. This project involves capturing and validating retired individuals’ records from June 2014 to December 2014, and June 2019 to December 2019, with other arrangements made for collecting data about other pensioners.
Olayiwola stated that Governor Seyi Makinde has proven his devotion to enhancing the well-being of not only elders but also people in general.
Dr. Olusegun Abatan, Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Oyo State chapter, commended the e-payment scheme, saying it brings better security, precision, and promptness in gratuity distribution.
Mr. Olajide Mamud Okesade, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishment and Training, appreciated Governor Makinde and other officials for their consistency in remunerating retirees and civil servants
