World-renowned boxer Manny Pacquiao, who retired from professional boxing and ventured into politics, is returning to the fight after a long hiatus to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title on July 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The Filipino knockouts artist at 46 years confirmed the information in IG with the statement, “I’m back… Let’s make history.”
Pacquiao, who had taken a year-long sabbatical from professional boxing, has continued to flourish in his political career. He has championed several causes as President of the Philippines and also headed a presidential race in 2022.
Pacquiao has 62 wins to his name and with only 8 losses and 2 draws. Moreover, he is the oldest fighter who had grabbed a welterweight world title, at 40 in 2019. The year 2025 will see him as one of the members to be recognized by the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Barrios, an American of the Mexican descent (29-2, 18 KOs), is that guy who currently owns the WBC welterweight belt and he is confident in saying that a tough fight is coming.
