The Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential Candidate for the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has expressed pain at the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, whom he described as his younger brother.
Ubah represented Anambra South and was the CEO of Capital Oil.
Obi responded to the incident with a statement on his X Twitter, saying Ubah’s death was a shock.
What they’re saying
He wrote:
“I was shocked this morning when I learnt of the death of my loving younger brother, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represents Anambra South Senatorial District.
“We were all together on July 12 for Mr Chieloka Ubajekwe’s burial at Nnewi, Anambra State.
“Senator Ubah personally greeted me at the burial and invited me to his house for lunch, which I politely declined because I already had other appointments that day.
“During our discussions about the situation of the nation, he told me that he now understands my commitment to human advancement and agrees with it.
“He told me that, despite our party differences, we would work as a family to serve our people.
“Similarly, despite party differences, I praised him for his contributions to a better humanity through his Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation, which cared for the less privileged in society by investing in education, hand health, and lifting people out of poverty.”I also encouraged him to continue in that direction.
“May God Almighty, who has called him home at this time, forgive his sins and provide him everlasting rest, as well as give his family, the entire Anambra South Senatorial District, Anambra State, Nigeria, and all of us the strength to grieve his terrible irreplaceable loss.
“God Almighty protect and bless his family always.”
Bottom Line
Despite their party differences, Obi acknowledges Ubah’s contributions to society through the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation. This indicates a level of mutual respect and recognition of each other’s efforts in improving the lives of their constituents.
