In a five unanimous decision, the Election Petition Tribunal holding at Abuja, presented the pre-hearing session of the report Tribunal on Tuesday, May 23 where Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, issued the order that Peter Obi and the Labour Party in a joint petition to present their petition against Asiwaju Bola Ahmed’s Victory in three weeks.
This is coming after Peter Obi had on the 19th of May, asked the Election tribunal to give him seven weeks to prove his case, as he’ll be able to provide 50 witnesses to prove his case, however the court only given him the grace of 3 weeks, commencing from May 30th to June 23rd. According to Justice Tsammani, the reason for limiting it to three weeks is due to the time constraints permitted them, to conclude the petition.
The Tribunal also issued an order, directing the President elect alongside the Independent National Electoral Commission to defend his victory in five days, as his inauguration was only a few days away.
Meanwhile, some netizens, in a reaction to the Tribunal order, are of the opinion, that the two weeks given might be too small for Peter Obi to gather whatever evidence he needs to prove his case, while others believe that the two weeks is enough in order to drag the petition too long.
