In his official declaration made on Monday, the 29th day of July, 2024, Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, suggested that Nigerians must pass through the existing economic problems and mismanagements to acquire a smoother living in the future. Obi raised hopes that these trials and tribulations shall be over and the days would be brighter in the country.
He declared, “Probably we had to stay up all night, but in the end, the glorious casting off of our motherland will take place and we will be able to rejoice in the New Nigeria that we have all helped to build as it is Possible if we are determined to do so.”
Obi’s statement comes after billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote expressed frustration with the opposition to his refinery project. Obi praised Dangote for not giving up on Nigeria despite the fact that it was not an easy task and shared his own personal pain that came with the servicing of public offices. “Ever since I went into the government, the number of my very own loss has increased so much that it’s becoming embarrassing.
There are savings of mine in the foreign countries which I have withdrawn and brought back to Nigeria, and there are also companies I created in Nigeria which were either down or took over by people to whom they were delegated, I endured them all,” Obi said.
