The police force in the federal capital territory has made known the arrest of suspects in the case of the killing of a man for blasphemy. The police had arrested fifteen people whom they traced to the murder of Ahmad Usman. Ahmad was stoned to death by a mob on Saturday in Lugbe, FCT.
It had been reported that the mob had attacked the 30-year-old man because he had made a blasphemous comment about Prophet Mohammed, their holy prophet of God. The crowd had beaten, stoned, and burnt the dead body of the man.
The police force made the arrest known through a statement given by the public relations officer. The statement stated that the suspects had been detained and investigations were currently going on to bring the perpetrators to book.
The Commissioner of Police promised to get to the cause of the matter and requested for everyone to remain calm about the issue.
“We assure that the Command would get to the root of the matter and bring all the perpetrators to book. We, therefore, reiterate that justice would be served in the matter.”
