The Kano State Police Command has apprehended three suspects linked to the murder of Ex-Permanent Secretary and former Chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Atiku Mu’azu. The gruesome act occurred in Kano State, where the retired official had been living after leaving public service.
Three Arrested in Connection with Mu’azu’s Death
Confirming the arrests, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Abdullahi, stated, “Three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the death of the Gombe retired permanent secretary and are now in our custody. As soon as the investigation is completed, the suspects will be charged to court for appropriate prosecution.”
Gombe State. Governor Muhammadu Yahaya expressed profound sadness upon hearing of Mu’azu’s death. “The loss of a man who served his state diligently is a tragedy,” the governor said in a statement.
Kidnapping Rocks Kano Town Amid Investigation
While the police work to bring Mu’azu’s killers to justice, another crime unfolded in Garo town, Kabo Local Government Area, Kano State. Early Sunday morning, gunmen stormed the residence of Alhaji Auwal, a prominent businessman. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, numbering about ten, forcefully broke into the house at around 1:20 a.m.
Their target was the businessman’s eldest daughter, Zainab, a secondary school graduate. The kidnappers abducted her and escaped without leaving any clues. SP Haruna Abdullahi confirmed that the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are working tirelessly to rescue the young lady.
“The police have swung into action with a view to rescuing the victim and apprehending the fleeing suspects,” Abdullahi said. However, as of now, the kidnappers have not reached out to the family, leaving Zainab’s whereabouts unknown.
