Elections in Nigeria have never been entirely free and fair, it’s either there is some corrupt scheming underneath or the one openly visible. A 53-year-old woman was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for having laminated electoral materials.

According to the Lagos State Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect was nabbed in a business center where she was busy making photocopies of the materials at Chandos Road, Baruwa in Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State on Thursday around 4:00 pm.

She was arrested with 550 different INEC materials, and when asked how she got possession of those materials she couldn’t give a coherent answer, the case has moved to the Criminal Investigation Department of the state for further investigation.

He said, “She was arrested with 550 different INEC materials. The laptop she used in printing the materials has been recovered and she couldn’t give a good account of how she came into possession of the materials.

“The case has been transferred to State CID Yaba for further investigation,”

It’s quite a pity that while Nigerians are busy advocating for change, others are busy obstructing the change that we crave.

It’s barely a day to the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, Nigerians are seriously expecting to see something different from what we saw at the Presidential Elections, where the BVAS machines were faulty and several other complaints.
