The Kano State Police Command has cautioned residents against protesting over the results of the ongoing election petition tribunal in the state.

This warning was made in light of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, allegedly preparing crowds to protest the outcome of the state elections tribunal.

It was said that the NNPP had deployed its members from across the state to March from the Kofar Nassarawa City Center to Government House in demonstration to what they termed an ‘attempt to snatch their victory’ by the APC political party.

In response to the above claim, the APC had through its spokesperson, Ahmad Aruwa, made a statement asking its members to come out large numbers to counter the NNPP.

The State Commissioner, Muhammad Gumel, had said:
“In light of the confirmatory intelligence products at the disposal of this Police Command, all forms and types of street protests are immediately banned across all regions in the State.

“The general public should as a consequence, note that it has come to our knowledge that both the APC and the NNPP members are at present, gathering rented crowd under the guise of a Civil Society Coalition and without any clearance from the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and without due approval from the security agencies in the state.

“Both the organizers and the umbrella body should note that any attempt to mock NLC and the Security Agencies in the state, by playing around the fragile security situation in the country is not only unlawful and criminal, but also an offense against the National Security.”

Gumel then concluded the statement by appreciating the enormous support and cooperation from the good people of the State for their various contributions to peace, security, stability and the overall interest of every resident in the state.
