The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed a viral “wanted” notice circulating online that claimed Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo was wanted by the Office of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit.
The police described the notice as “false, misleading, and not issued by the Force.” In a post on its official Facebook page, the NPF clarified that the poster did not come from the Force and was not shared on any of its official platforms.
The statement reads:
“FAKE NEWS ALERT! This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading & was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard & stop spreading fake news.”
The NPF also urged the public to always confirm information through official channels to avoid being deceived by fake news.
“Verify only from official NPF channels,” the statement added.
