Usman Baba, Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, has withdrawn the deployment of Feleye Olaleye as the Commissioner of the Kano State Police Command. The police chief had however deployed CP Ahmed Kontagora to head the command during the Governorship and State Assembly elections in Kano state.
Recall that on March 8, the IGP had reversed the deployment of CP Balarabe Sule, who had previously been a former chief security officer to Abdullahi Ganduje, the governor of Kano State, after protests had been staged over the officer’s alleged partisanship.
However, in a signal released on Monday, 13 March, with reference number TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/SUB.6/144, the IGP maintained CP Ita Lazarus Uko-Udom’s posting to Kano Central, with DCP Umar Iya working as his second-in-command and the posting of DCP Abaniwonda Olufemi to Kano North, with ACP Adamu Sambo working as his second-in-command.
