The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two members of an armed squad specializing in persecuting residents of Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Spokesperson of the Command who announced the arrest via a press release had said that the hoodlums had engaged the law officials in a gunfight before finally getting intercepted.
Ikenga’s press release read partly:
“Police officers in Obosi, had intercepted a 3-man criminal gang in a tricycle around Littlewood Estate while on patrol on July 20 at about 11:30 pm.”
The police officers had arrested two of the criminals with gunshot wounds sustained from the gun battle.
The third suspect had fled and is currently on the run.
Two Berreta pistols with two rounds of ammunition had been recovered from the hoodlums.
“The identity of the arrested suspects are Amaechi Precious, a 25 year old male from Obosi and Almazer Avalumo, a 25 year old male from Adikpo in Benue State.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has meanwhile, charged police officers, both in the state and nationwide, to continue the fight against criminals, wherever they may be hiding.
