In the ongoing saga between Gov Fubara and ex-Gov Wike, things heated up! Wike, now the Federal Capital Territory Minister, claims Fubara set the State House Assembly section ablaze to dodge impeachment. Politics in Nigeria, right? Always keeping us guessing with their dramatic moves just to hold onto power.
Wike made a bold statement, saying Fubara lit the fire after catching wind of an impeachment bid against him. When asked if he supported Fubara’s impeachment, Wike retorted,
“If they’re impeaching you, did you even give me a heads-up? If I was the mastermind, would you at least let me know?”
Wike highlighted concerns about “ethnic politics” in the usually oil-rich state. He seemed taken aback, claiming they’d never seen this level of drama before.
Then came the fire at the State House on October 29, right when rumors swirled about kicking Fubara out. Both in the same party, the PDP, these two were reportedly not exchanging Pleasantries before this mess. But surprise, surprise, they showed up together at a public event.
President Tinubu stepped in as the peacemaker, uniting the feuding pair. Fubara even likened their spat to a family issue, calling it a “father-and-son matter.”
Now, for everyone back home wondering what’s up, Fubara reassured everyone, saying, “Relax, No problem here. If there’s a squabble, we’ll fix it.” His calm demeanor with the Chief of Defence Staff visiting was like, “All’s good in the hood.”
But seriously, does this feud ever end? Politics, huh?
