Habeeb Okikiola, famously known as Portable, has regained his freedom from the custody of the Lagos State Police Command, less than a day after being arrested.
Recall that Portable had been forcefully arrested on Tuesday over his purported refusal to complete payment for his newly acquired luxury car, the G-Wagon.
The ‘Zazzu’ crooner had bought a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 from a car dealer in Lagos by name, Ogunsanwo Temitope (Temmy Autos), but had defaulted in completing the payment.
Portable had reportedly paid only N13 million after buying the vehicle, which was worth N27 million and had thereafter refused to pay the N14 million balance.
SP Benajmin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer had confirmed the release of the singer to Vanguard newspapers late Wednesday evening.
What This Means
Portable’s quick release from police custody after his arrest for a luxury car payment issue shows how even famous people can have financial problems. He bought a fancy car but didn’t finish paying for it, causing a dispute with the seller. The involvement of the police and his subsequent release highlights the seriousness of the situation. This incident serves as a reminder for everyone, famous or not, to fulfill their financial obligations as no one is above the law.
