Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released after spending about a week in police detention.

The artist was arraigned on January 12 before a court in Ota, Ogun State, over multiple allegations, including assault, theft, causing bodily harm and resisting arrest. He was also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300, reportedly valued at N12 million.

At his initial court appearance, Portable was denied bail after the police officer handling the case failed to appear before the court.

Following his release, a video that has since gone viral captured the moment the singer was welcomed back by his associates, who gathered around him in celebration. In the clip, Portable appeared in high spirits and humorously announced a new nickname for himself, saying his name is now “Innocenty.”

Reacting on social media, Portable’s manager, Baby Luv, took to Instagram to celebrate his freedom. She shared a photo of the singer with his first wife, Bewaji, and praised her for remaining supportive throughout the ordeal.

“All glory to God. Grace spoke, mercy prevailed. #Freedom. She stayed when it was hardest. God honoured her faith #Thankful,” she wrote.

Portable’s latest detention adds to a long list of legal troubles since his rise to fame in 2022. The singer has been arrested, charged, and remanded on several occasions — reportedly more than eight times — across correctional facilities in Kwara, Ogun, and Lagos states.
