Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle are presently in Nigeria for an unofficial tour that will span three days.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in Nigeria onboard the British Airways on Friday, May 10, and were received by government officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from where they were ushered out of a side door.
According to International News, a news outlet, Meghan had worn black trousers and a brown jacket, while Harry wore a black jacket, trousers, and an open-necked shirt.
The couple’s itinerary for Friday will include a visit to a school, meeting with Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, and a visit to injured service members at a military hospital.
The couple will also attend a training session for Nigeria: Unconquered charity that is in partnership with Harry’s “Invictus Games”.
Meghan Markle will also co-host a chat with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who is thee World Trade Organization’s Director General and her husband.
The tour will begin with a basketball clinic with Giants of Africa, a “cultural reception,” and a polo fundraiser on Sunday.
Why Is The Visit Happening At This Time
The three-day visit is a part of the event to mark the 10th year anniversary of the ‘Invictus Games’ which was established in part by Prince Harry in 2014.
The ‘Invictus Games’ is a sporting tournament involving different kinds of sports for soldiers who sustained injuries or were wounded in the course of their service.
According to the Nigerian Defence HQ, this visit is strictly private, as the famous couple had come to Nigeria on the invitation of the Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle has revealed her excitement about the opportunity to visit and explore Nigeria, especially after a recent DNA test claimed that she had 43% Nigerian ancestry.
