Oba Adewole Boboye, the traditional head of the Ode Community in the Akure North LGA has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Ondo Magistrate Court for unlawfully demolishing some properties, trees, and Crops.
The monarch had misused his authority as a traditional ruler and acted as a dictator by demolishing and destroying properties without the permission of the government.
Report has it that he demolished a church belonging to Christ Apostolic Church along Ado Ekiti Road, and also destroyed some cash crops belonging to some members of the society
The Presiding Mrs. Bukola Ojo, reiterating the position of the law, sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment and awarded 5 million damages to the victims.
The position of the law is clear, no one is above the law, and no matter one’s position, everyone is still subjected to the law, even those in authority are subject to the law and cannot by the reason of their position act in contravening the law.
