The problem of unknown gunmen attacking and wreaking havoc in different parts of Nigeria has become the norm. A protest broke out in Imo state yesterday after some unidentified gunmen suspected of being members of the Ebubeagu security group opened fire, killing seven people on Saturday. This incident has caused an uproar in Imo State as everyone is panicking
The said victims, who were returning to Otulu in Oru East L.G.A, from a wedding in a neighboring town of Awomama in Oru West L.G.A. were killed.
Nnamdi Agbor, the general president of the Otulu community, speaking to some news subscribers, said seven people died instantly on the spot. According to him, the policemen are aware of the situation and some arrests have already been made.
“Our people came back from Awo Omamma around 7 p.m. after a traditional wedding.”
“Ebubeagu agents saw them on motorcycles and opened fire on them.
“As I speak to you, we have recovered seven bodies that are our people. Five are missing, two are seriously injured and hospitalized, while the other person, who suffered minor injuries, has been discharged.
“That is very unfortunate. Our people are angry. you protest. There was no reason for the murder. They were driving home when the Ebubeagu Security Forces opened fire on them.
“We reported the incident to the security forces. The police commissioner and the commander of the 34th artillery brigade of the Obinze commando were visiting. The data protection officer also helps. I reported the murder to the MP who represents us in Parliament.
“The celebrant is Chijioke Nnanna. Those arrested are Uchenna Orjiribeka, Chido Ekesinachi, and Nnamdi Ekesinachi. The ones in the hospital are Oluebube Agbor and thank God Iheukwumere. Those killed are Chigozie Obinwa, Ozioma, Chikere Anyadioha, Ifechi Ekesinachi, Emeka Ekesinachi, Aboy Ihegboro, and Chijindu. Five people are still missing.”

Police spokesman Micheal Abattam attested that the incident did indeed happen and a serious investigation has begun.
We hope the people behind it get caught, as this is a very sad incident.
