Aging is a natural part of life, but not many people look forward to its physical changes. As we grow, our bodies change in different ways. We would have a slower healing process, thinning hair, and feel more tired than usual. However, one of the most noticeable signs of aging is wrinkles.

In today’s world, there are so many treatments and technologies that help people deal with these changes. Some people embrace their wrinkles as evidence of growth, while others look for ways to reduce them. Botox is one popular option, but there’s another treatment called Radiesse. Radiesse works wonders at filling wrinkles and folds in the skin. In this article, we’ll discuss how it works.

How It Works

As people get older, their skin starts to lose its natural elasticity and firmness. This is because the body produces less collagen, which is a protein that helps to keep the skin smooth and plump. Over time, this lack of collagen can cause saggy skin, fine lines, and deep wrinkles. This can be very frustrating for many people, especially when they want to look as young as they feel. That’s where Radiesse procedure comes in.

Radiesse is a dermal filler, which is a special gel-like substance that is injected under the skin to smooth out wrinkles and folds. Unlike other fillers, radiesse stands out because it doesn’t just fill the wrinkles temporarily, it also stimulates collagen production. Collagen gives the skin its structure, so injecting radiesse into the skin would encourage the body to produce more of this protein. This treatment is great because it gives immediate and long-term results.

In addition, the main ingredient in radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which is a substance naturally found in human bones. This filler is safe, and biocompatible, which means that the body won’t react negatively to it. Over time, the gel is absorbed and tiny calcium particles left behind help to rebuild the skin’s natural collagen network.

How is The Treatment Done?

The radiesse procedure is quick. It usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Firstly, the doctor will clean the treatment area and apply a numbing cream to reduce the pain. Then they’ll use a small needle or cannula, which is a tiny tube, to inject the radiesse filler under the skin. Doctors usually treat certain areas, and the most common areas for treatment include:

  • Smile lines, which are the folds that run from your nose to your mouth
  • Marionette lines, which are the lines around the mouth and chin
  • Jawline and cheeks, to restore volume and definition.
  • Hands, to reduce the appearance of veins and wrinkles.

After a radiesse procedure, most people can go back to their normal life activities, right? Some minor swelling, bruising or redness may occur, though. But side effects usually fade within a few days.

What Makes Radiesse Different?

Unlike Botox, which relaxes muscles and smooths wrinkles, Radiesse treatment adds volume beneath the skin to lift and seal the wrinkles. It’s great for deeper folds or areas that have lost a lot of volume over time. The great thing is that the results are instant and they get even better over the next few months as the body produces more collagen. Radiesse can last anywhere from 12 to 18 months, depending on how quickly your body breaks down the calcium gel.

Conclusion

Finally, radiesse is a great option for anyone who is looking to reduce the wrinkles on their body, restore lost volume in their skin, and also achieve a more youthful look without having to undergo surgery. It is a fast, effective, and long-lasting procedure.
