Former England player Raheem Sterling has been arrested for a drug-driving offence after his car crashed on a motorway in southern England, Hampshire Police say.
The 31-year-old footballer, who last featured for Dutch team Feyenoord, is believed to have been the driver of the Lamborghini involved in the accident on the M3 motorway near the Minley Interchange last Thursday morning. According to the police, the luxury car rammed the motorway barriers with no other vehicles involved and no casualties.
Hampshire police in a release stated that a 31-year-old man from Berkshire was taken into custody on suspicion of drug-driving, dangerous driving, possession of a Class C drug, and failing to give a specimen. The man has now been allowed bail while further investigations are carried out.

Individuals closely connected to Sterling have revealed to the UK press that the player has suffered internally and mentally over the years. They pointed out that he has been accused only, and nothing is confirmed publicly about the charges.
Sterling was a great player for the English team, earning 82 caps and scoring 20 goals for his country. He won four English top-flight honours with Manchester City before subsequently moving to Chelsea, Arsenal, and Feyenoord.
The investigation into the case is still ongoing.
