British rapper Stormzy was banned from driving for nine months after he was found guilty of driving his luxury Rolls-Royce and using his mobile phone at the same time.
Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court imposed the ban on Thursday, labeling the artist’s actions “dangerous and irresponsible,” said District Judge Andrew Sweet.
The incident had taken place in West Kensington on 7 March 2024, where an off-duty police officer had seen the rapper breaking traffic laws. Stormzy pleaded guilty to the offence in a letter to the court.
Judge Sweet further expressed discontent with Stormzy’s abysmal driving record, furthering that as a reason for the sentence. This ban sends an imposing message against distracted driving, even for high-profile figures.
