Marcus Rashford has sparked football’s heated discussion once more, this time without picking a favorite. When ESPN requested him to select between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the best, the Barcelona star confessed he was unable to make a choice.
“I believe it’s Messi and Ronaldo,” Rashford remarked with a grin recognizing how challenging the question still is. Raised admiring Ronaldo at Manchester United and later playing for Messi’s club Barcelona, Rashford occupies a distinct place between the two generations.

During a quick-fire segment, he lauded both legends, referring to Ronaldo as the ” finisher ever” and Messi as the “best creator.” Although he singled out Messi as the player, in La Liga’s history, Rashford did not discount Ronaldo when considering the broader global football scene.
Rashford has frequently mentioned Ronaldo’s impact, reminiscing about how the player’s dedication motivated him during his early years in United’s academy. “He aimed to be the greatest and trained each day relentlessly,” Rashford once remarked.
His stance comes with claims by former Barcelona striker Kevin-Prince Boateng, who said recently in an interview that Barcelona pressured players to declare Messi the G.O.A.T. Rashford, however, refuses to choose between both legends, carefully avoiding a definitive answer in football’s eternal argument.
