According to reports, Real Madrid have activated Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen’s £50 million release clause in what might be one of the highlight deals of the summer.
Since replacing the hurt Marcos Senesi in December, the 20-year-old Spanish international has become among the best defenders in the Premier League. Since then, Huijsen has played every minute for the Cherries, drawing attention from top teams including Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool.
Madrid, though, have made the clear decision. Los Blancos are nearly finished with the agreement, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, and personal terms are now the last obstacle. Ornstein remarked that discussions on personal terms are well advanced and representatives are in Madrid to finalize the transfer.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano verified the player’s camp has arrived in Madrid. Negotiations are on a five-year agreement whereby the £50 million payment would be made in three installments.
When Huijsen replaces Carlo Ancelotti as Madrid manager next season, Xabi Alonso will be probably one of his first signings. Ancelotti will leave for the Brazil national team.
Madrid’s revamped backline is starting to take form as Trent Alexander-Arnold is also scheduled to arrive.
