Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has shown strong support for her former daughter-in-law, May Yul Edochie, while issuing a stern warning to critics and trolls.
Taking to her Instagram page, the actress cautioned the public against targeting individuals who carry divine grace, stating that such grace has the power to disgrace anyone who dares to challenge it.
In her words, “Avoid stepping on the toes of someone with God’s grace because that grace will so disgrace you!!”
Rita firmly maintained that May still bears the name May Yul Edochie, despite her divorce from Yul, emphasizing that the name was never given by anyone to be taken away. She made her stance clear, stating, “Her name remains Queen May Yul Edochie even after the divorce, because you didn’t give her the name. Iwe Wegi Oga, madam see. Or better still, go hug transformer. Haters sleep well, because the name has come to stay.”
She went on to question the intense negativity directed toward May, asking why people would hate someone who doesn’t even know they exist.
“Why is there so much hate on someone who doesn’t know you exist? Owelu onye melu ibeya bikonu?” she asked.
The actress encouraged people to focus on their own journey rather than waste energy on hate, stressing the importance of patience, gratitude, and trusting in divine timing.
“Pray for your own success, and with God, you will definitely shine in your season. Be happy for who God Almighty has blessed, for yours to come too. Stop the unnecessary anger, abeg. Don’t rush or compare your journey to others. Just like the sun and moon, we all have our own unique time to shine,” she wrote.
She advised against allowing societal pressure to dictate one’s pace, cautioning that forcing progress can lead to burnout or worse.
“Trying to force your way can lead to burnout or harm. Instead, focus on steady progress, one step at a time. Celebrate small wins, learn from setbacks and keep moving forward. You are unique, and your moment will arrive. Remember, life’s timing is divine. Embrace the journey, trust the process and shine in your season,” Rita concluded.
