The governorship candidates of certain political parties in Rivers State had on Friday, March 17, trooped to the State Police headquarters, in a protest against reported intimidation by Governor Nyesom Wike ahead of the Saturday, March 18 election.
The candidates include Senator Magnus Abe of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Tonye Cole, All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Accord and Tonte Ibraye, African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The opposition parties had additionally alleged that their members and supporters were constantly being harassed and arrested by security agencies working for the current Rivers State governor Wike and had called for the immediate release of all those arrested within this political tensed period.
