After four Commissioners issued their resignations on Thursday, three more Commissioners joined the bandwagon on Friday.
The resignation ‘madness’ that hit the Rivers State Executive Council yesterday doesn’t seem to be slowing down as three more commissioners have tendered in their resignation letters this morning.
After four resignations from Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet were tendered on Thursday, the Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu, the Commissioner for Education, Chinedu Mmom and the Commissioner of Transport, Jacobson Nbina, all resigned on Friday.
Worlu’s resignation letter –which was addressed to the governor had said that his resignation as the Commissioner for Housing was due to personal reasons that needed his prompt attention.
Mmom’s letter had said something similar.
It read: “I hereby resign my appointment as the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Rivers State for private reasons.
“I wish to communicate my deepest appreciation to you for the opportunity offered me to serve in your leadership and wish you the best as you carry on with the governance of our beloved state.”
Nbina, had said that his resignation was private due to family commitments.
This series of resignations began on Thursday with the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zaccheus Adangor. However, his resignation letter was dated November 14, 2023.
His notice was followed by the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Inemi Aguma; the Commissioner for Works, George Kelly Alabo; and the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu.
The latest resignations leaves the total number of exited appointees at 7.
At present, the Rivers State Government’s Executive Council is left with 11 commissioners out of the 18 previously appointed.
