Rodri may be considering a switch to Real Madrid CF as he is going into the last year of his contract with Manchester City FC.
The 29-year-old midfielder from Madrid revealed that he would be interested in going back to Spain at some point. On the occasion of Spain’s friendly match versus Serbia, Rodri accepted that the talks about his future will happen very soon.

“I want to come back, of course, that’s the thing, ” he said, pointing out that when you are offered clubs of the level of the world’s biggest ones it is very hard to say no to these opportunities.
Rodri’s professional football journey started in Villarreal CF, from where he transferred to Atletico Madrid in 2018. A year later, he had the opportunity to join Manchester City. Back then, he held a very important role in the team, and since his arrival, he has been an indispensable player under Pep Guardiola, winning several big titles, including the UEFA Champions League and four Premier League titles.
The player also remarked that this was not a big change, from Atlético to their city rivals, and clearly stated that there have been numerous cases of footballers who decided to make a move to their rivals.
Besides, Rodri rejected the idea of a rivalry with Vinicius Junior after the Ballon d’Or 2024 and expressed his admiration for the Brazilian whizzkid.
These statements by Rodri will undoubtedly stir the rumors that the high-profile return to LaLiga is on the cards as the contract renewal talks are getting closer.
