Chelsea Head coach Liam Rosenior didn’t hold back when scolding his squad after a poor 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium, describing the show as “below any level”.
Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck gave Brighton a comfortable win, and at the same time Chelsea were made to endure a fifth consecutive league defeat without scoring, which is their longest run of this kind since 1912.
Chelsea’s dreadful form has further resulted in them dropping to the seventh position, seven points away from the top five, thus seriously endangering their UEFA Champions League qualification. This loss also brings the total to seven defeats in the last eight matches of the club in all competitions.

Rosenior showed anger and was not willing to even slightly defend his team while basically asking if they even wanted it. The manager said,
“That is a performance I just cannot explain.” “It was a performance totally devoid of spirit, courage and the fundamental requirements at this level, ” he added.
With the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United coming up at Wembley, the pressure is on Rosenior’s side and even Rosenior’s job has been questioned only a few months after he took over from Enzo Maresca.
Yet defender Trevoh Chalobah supported the players, claiming that the main cause of the poor performance was tiredness rather than a lack of willingness.
