Russia targeted the Kremenchuk oil refinery located in Ukraine’s central Poltava region, resulting in a significant fire, as confirmed by Governor Dmytro Lunin on Wednesday.
Lunin conveyed via the Telegram messaging app that the operations at the refinery have been temporarily halted, emphasizing that there is currently no available information regarding any casualties resulting from the attack.
He stated, “Last night, Russians repeatedly attacked Poltava region. Our air defence system did a good job against enemy UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles).”
It’s worth noting that this refinery has faced repeated attacks from Russia since the onset of its invasion of Ukraine last year.
Ukraine’s military disclosed that their air defense systems successfully intercepted and downed 17 out of 24 drones launched by Russia overnight, in an effort to protect the nation.
