Nigerian show promoter Sam Larry has publicly responded to claims suggesting he played a role in the troubling events that preceded the death of singer Mohbad.
In a recent interview hosted by social media activist VeryDarkMan, Sam Larry addressed a short video clip that resurfaced online, capturing a tense moment between him and Mohbad at a beach location.
The clip drew heavy backlash from the public, with many interpreting it as an act of intimidation.
However, Sam Larry insisted the scene was misunderstood. He explained that he only confronted the late singer over a missed performance and denied ever laying a hand on him.
“That video was just 9 seconds. I was with my son at the beach. When I saw Mohbad, I walked up to him and demanded my money for a show he didn’t show up for. Zlatan was there and quickly stepped in to resolve it. There was no assault, I’ve never touched Mohbad all my life,” he said.
He also attempted to clear the air regarding his whereabouts when Mohbad died in September 2023, stating that he was in Dubai at the time, while his associate, Naira Marley, was in Amsterdam.
The show promoter further claimed that rapper Zlatan Ibile avoided making a public statement about the beach incident due to warnings he received.
“Zlatan say if hin talk, say blood go comot for hin mouth,” Sam Larry stated.
Despite his explanation, the remarks have stirred more reactions online, with many calling for continued investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
