Sanwo Olu Okays 50% Reduction on BRT Fares and Others.

Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo Olu approved a 50% Reduction in the Bus Rapid Transit Fares on Wednesday, he also approved a reduction in other state-owned transport services.

“50% cut in fares on all our BRT buses, LAGRIDE taxi scheme, First Mile and Last Mile buses, and Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY). This will take effect from tomorrow for the next seven days. We will push out more Cowrie Cards to enable more Lagosians to get on board our services.

He also said that to ease the hardship Lagosians are facing due to the CBN monetary policy, food banks will be stationed in several Communities to provide food for the vulnerable, disadvantaged, and PWDs.

“I have directed that food banks be set up in various parts of the State to cater to the vulnerable. We will distribute foodstuff to various communities,” the governor announced during a briefing at the State House in Marina.”

In several states, protests have been held as regards the hardship Nigerians are facing due to the cash and fuel scarcity, this is just an initiative by Governor Sanwo Olu to ease the burden on residents of Lagos, Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde carried out similar initiative when a protest ensued in Oyo state.
