Sarkin Yakin Zazzau’s Sudden Death: A Shocking Loss to Kaduna

On Thursday, the people of Kaduna State were left reeling after the sudden death of the Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Rilwan Pate. He collapsed while attending an event with the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli. Pate, who also served as a Council Member of the Emirate and Councillor responsible for Health Matters, was rushed to the Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Zaria, where he was sadly confirmed dead.

A Sudden and Unexpected Tragedy

Eyewitnesses were left in shock as Pate, who was at the event in good health, suddenly slumped. Despite being quickly transported to the hospital, efforts to save him failed. The Zazzau Emirate Council later confirmed the death in a statement released by Abdullahi Kwarbai, the Media and Publicity officer. Kwarbai expressed deep sorrow over the untimely passing of Pate, a figure known for his dedication and service.

In the statement, the Emirate Council said, “It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate, a Council Member of the Emirate.” The tragic incident has left a void that will be felt across the region.

Condolences from the Emir of Zazzau

The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, joined in mourning, offering condolences to Pate’s family and the Emirate. He referred to the death as “the will of Allah,” emphasizing the inevitability of death and its unpredictable timing. Bamalli, who had a close working relationship with Pate, praised his late colleague as hardworking, religious, and dedicated to his duties. “The vacuum left by his passing will not be easily filled,” he said.

Final Rites and Burial

In keeping with Islamic tradition, Pate was buried at Rimin Dodo on Thursday evening, surrounded by family and community members. The burial was carried out with full respect to the rites of Islam. .
