It seems the issue of Racism, hasn’t been totally eradicated, as it is still noticeable in the world of football. Victor Osimhen, super-eagles star player was booed and abused by Verona fans during the match between Napoli and Verona. It was obvious that Verona fans felt intimidated seeing Osimhen on their field, so they made several ill chants to get the player to lose focus.
Osimhen didn’t pay attention to whatever they were doing, as he concentrated solely on the match. He even made a funny face to celebrate Napoli’s Win as they thrashed Verona by 5-2. To put a stop to racism, the disciplinary committee fined Verona 12,000 Euros for booing and insulting Osimhen.
Funny enough, Verona fans are known for being racists as last season due to racism chants from their fans a section of their stadium was shut down. It is rather unfortunate that in this day and age such a babaric act is still practiced.
