Maverick singer Seun Kuti has expressed his disappointment over his non-inclusion in the guest list of Afrobeats superstar Davido’s high-society wedding with Chioma on June 25th, 2024. The wedding was an elaborate one, with dignitaries from all corners gracing the occasion, and yet it was missing a notable figure in Kuti amidst other stars.
In an episode of Curiosity Made Me Ask hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Seun Kuti opened up on the sting of not getting an invite. The musician said he was deeply hurt, adding that this snub actually affected his sleep for a whole week.
In his own words, Kuti said, “Davido would come to the African Shrine with 100 guys, and he would drink without paying, but when it was time for his wedding, I didn’t get IV. I was pained, I didn’t sleep for one week”.
Seun said The African Shrine, operated by his family and known for its cultural significance, had been a spot where Davido and his crew would come to hang out, drink, and have a good time.
This revelation by Seun has elicited reactions, as many sympathize with his frustration, while others wonder why Davido would overlook such a long-standing connection. But snub notwithstanding, Seun Kuti still speaks his mind, unafraid of whatever criticisms his nature may attract.
