A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has announced that he will be providing legal services to Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, who sought his help following his alleged assault on a police officer.
According to Falana, the singer had sufficient evidence to defend himself.
Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission has called for the immediate prosecution of the musician, on the basis that no one had the right to assault a policeman in uniform and on official duty, regardless of the offense committed by the police officer.
There have been speculations on Sunday, May 14 that a team of police officers drafted to arrest Kuti could not locate him upon getting to his residence but Falana had countered those reports saying that the embattled singer would turn himself in on Monday, 15 May 2023.
