Nigerian singer John Njenga-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has denied reports that he ended his marriage with his wife, Precious Hassanity, over comments she allegedly made mocking his music career.
A post by an X user, @Verity_HQ, had gone viral, alleging that Skales justified his divorce by referencing a social media comment from Precious that seemed to ridicule his musical efforts. The post quoted Skales as saying, “I divorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t regret it… A woman who doesn’t support your hustle isn’t a good wife.”
However, Skales has now refuted the claims, stating that he never made such remarks. He condemned the report, calling it entirely false and malicious.
Taking to social media, the singer wrote, “This is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies.”
The viral claim reignited public interest in Skales’ marriage, which has seen past controversy. In late 2022, the artist shared snippets of an unreleased song many believed was aimed at his wife, containing sharp criticisms and personal attacks. Skales and Precious, who tied the knot in September 2021, have kept details of their relationship relatively private in recent times.
His recent denial serves as a strong pushback against what he describes as fabricated stories intended to damage his reputation.
