Farouk Salim, the Director General of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON, has warned builders against using low-quality construction materials.
The SON boss, who was represented by the Head of Products Registration, Joseph Ugbaja, had given the warning during the just concluded Building, Construction, and Machinery Expo that was held in Lagos.
Speaking on reviewing substandard materials that lead to building collapse, the director general revealed that the organization does quarterly monitoring.
Additionally, the Chief Executive Officer of Dutum Company Limited, Temitope Runsewe, had opined that certain levels of collapses could be handled through modern technology and there were also certain levels that could not be easily handled because of the nature of the disaster.
